Free Video - A Buncha Website Analysiseses…

I have a problem.

It’s a problem I don’t mind having so much, but it is a problem nonetheless.

You see, when I put up a post about giving away a few free website analysises (analysis’? analysees? nevermind…), I wasn’t quite expecting the response that I got.

Right now there are over 110 replies, most of them people asking for their website to be included. This is, of course, impossible, given the amount of time I want to spend on each analysis.

So I came up with a small solution for now. Although I will still be doing 2 or 3 full website analyseyes, I decided to put together a 20 minute video going over as many of the websites that have been submitted as I could.

I don’t spend much time on each of the websites, but the time I do spend I give my first impressions and immediate things that I would change.

Now, I only got about 10-20 sites done (I didn’t actually count), so I will probably do another one of these videos to cover more, IF you like what you see.

So, once you’ve watched the video, please post a comment here letting me know if it was useful to you or not. I will honestly base my decision on your replies alone (why put in the time if nobody cares, right?).

That was great. Short and sweet. I saw a few places we need to improve my site; namely with a signup box for a newsletter. Thanks Toby

    Matthew,

The video is very eye-opening and informative. I especially like the instruction about the headlines and how important they speak to what’s important to the viewer and not important to the web site owner.

I hope I get a chance to have my website critiqued as well because I could use a few pointers. My website is:

    Thanks.

    Hi Matthew,

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to do a few of the websites. I have picked up a lot of pointers of what to do and not do. I will be looking my sites over to see what I can improve upon. Thanks

Interesting to hear your comments on the websites. There was a problem with viewing it though, the voice was ahead of the video.

    Hi Matthew,

I watched your video and have learned quite a few things that i think I’m doing wrong on my website. Hope you can also include mine in your next video.

    Thanks,

These tips are very helpful in analyzing my own web page. I really get some great insight from these critiques. Thank you!

But there seems to be technical issues with the video. There is a lag time between you speaking and the visual. I also had to pause the video and when I tried to start watching again I had to start from the beginning.

    Hi Matt,

Thank you for the two previous videos. I have learned a lot about how to organize the site for the visitor and how to give them very specific direction on what they should do while visiting.

Maybe you could put together steps one, two three…on web site building for the uninformed. There appears to be a lot of us.

Thank you and I will continue to watch and hopefully learn.

Thanks for the quick “point and critique” reviews of the websites. Were able to show some common mistakes that we all make.

Will have to go back and fix my website of these
    errors.

Thank again for all your work to help us.

    Hi Matthew
See you– your good you hahahaha
Now then i learned loads here in how to make better use of the head area on a content site
as appose to just a sales page,To clarify i spent a lot on a course infact all i had hahaha which
never even covered this topic Yes there was a full overview of a content home page being a personal thing ie intro to you as appose to your product however what you covered here was in fact
brilliant i admit i jhad not concidered tha fact that actualy no one is realy interested in me but what i can do for them hahah me included when i go to a site i feel such a dafty for not thinking like that, however you get stuck into a course and try and focus on it thinking it will be the big thing hahahah
anyway Matthew i loved it sincerly i did thanks for your time i cant wait for the next one :-)
Yours(excited by information for a change)

    Hi Matthew,
In your AMF course you make a point that this business requires hard work and is not a get rich quick scheme. These 3 videos show that you practice what you preach. The time and effort required to produce these convince me that you are just not in it for the buck but give value to all of us. I am just setting up websites and you have given me a good starting point. I’ll be doing more business with you.

Excellent analysises? video. One comment though: I’m a fan of variable width sites as opposed to fixed width. Try www.cholesterolhowto.com and using Firefox, resize the window from the lower right side (live resizing). What do you think? What is your resolution width?

    Best regards,

  21. Net Marketing Toolbox commented on January 8, 2008 at 6:29 pm

Great video Matthew. Even spending a very short time looking at a range of websites, and pointing out the obvious, is extremely useful! You spent longer on each page than most new visitors do, so those first impressions really count.

More similar videos would be more useful to the majority, compared to an in-depth analysis of just a few :)

But that’s not to say I wouldn’t “mind” a thorough review of a (different) site I have that’s not converting well. So… how much would you charge for a thorough, paid analysis???

    Cheers

Another great video Matthew! Now I have to get to work and make some changes to my sites - some obvious issues now that you have pointed them out.

Being able to look at the site and have you show us what you would change works really well for me. Far more impact than reading the same information.

    Thanks again.

I think the video is great and gives lots of good pointers. I would like to see a critique on a market place site where the object is to sell a variety of ‘hard’ products.

Thank you for the analysis. You are a gifted man and as a retired VP of marketing, it has been my experience that there are relatively few people in the Wide World of the Web who have any real marketing expertise. My guess is that they are the ones who have been successful in making money.

    Keep up the good work.

You can not see my landing page as my host had a problem last few days but the blog is still up. Regardless, you have helped with these brief analyises.

I enjoyed the quick and informative video format to explain some key common mistake made to website setup. Alot or most seem to be marketing or at home business but are all websites regardless of what they promote set up the same to get high conversion rates? Should they all follow the same basic principles?
